DSA will stop publishing theory test questions
Posted on December 10th, 2010 by admin, under Latest News.
Driving Standards Agency (DSA) is restless about improving the entire driving test regime. Following the introduction of independent driving in October, DSA officials announced its plan to stop publishing the theory test questions and answers.
The move will be introduced in an attempt to enhance learner drivers’ understanding of the principles behind driving theory. As you know, DSA is now publishing the multiple choice questions and answers used in theory test. DSA officials believe this to be ineffective practice with learners focusing on memorising right answers instead of understanding them.
In September 2011 DSA will change learning materials for theory test, adding more sophisticated case studies. Then, from January 2012, DSA will introduce theory tests using questions which will not be available to learners.
Will this push the pass rate down? Or will it improve road safety? The answer is yours.

AXA Respect On The Road
Posted on August 27th, 2010 by admin, under Latest News.
AXA Car Insurance has launched Respect On The Road campaign aimed at bringing good manners and respect back to British roads. The campaign targets young inexperienced drivers and those who fail to control themselves while driving.
Anyone who has driven on our roads will know that a lot of drivers out there suffer from road rage and lack of respect for other road users. This lack of respect induces stress and frustration, which can be eventually a cause of car accidents. That’s why AXA Respect On The Road campaign is so important.

AXA put together a dedicated website to promote the campaign. It features driver surveys, videos and ‘I respect the road‘ blog. AXA is trying to encourage the public to discuss the issue of disrespect on the roads and see what can be done about it.
One of the latest driver surveys carried out as part of the campaign helped to find out what drivers think of as the most disrespectful things one driver can do to another. Honking in anger was reported to be the most inconsiderate thing. Half of drivers surveyed reported they felt stressed when other drivers press their horn, especially at the traffic lights. Interestingly, Fiat Punto was voted as the car with the most stress-inducing horn.
Visit AXA website https://www.axarespectontheroad.com to get more information about the campaign, take part in surveys and share your experiences and comments. Let’s help bring respect back to our roads.

Stark Message for Impersonators
Posted on November 24th, 2009 by admin, under Latest News.
Beware of DSA, driving test fraudsters and impersonators! DSA’s Fraud and Integrity Team has sharpened its prowess at tracking down criminals who attempt to evade or infiltrate the driving test. DSA’s achievements cumulated in winning first national identity crime award on 20 November.
The National Identity Crime Award was introduced to honor police forces and government agencies which contribute to the national combat against identity crime. To address increased activity of organised criminal gangs which impersonate people unwilling or unable to pass the driving test, DSA established Fraud and Integrity Team in 2004. Since then it has investigated over 3,000 alleged incidents of impersonation, resulting in 821 arrests and 1,186 driving licences revoked. Hundreds of criminals, who were never qualified for driving, were barred from using public roads.
Impersonation is a serious crime that is punishable with imprisonment. Criminals supply driving licences to people who are unwilling to pass driving tests or even those who are not eligible to do so. It may negatively impact road and public safety. In addition, driving licence may be used as a false identity to support further fraud offences.
DSA’s head of Fraud and Integrity, Andy Rice, accepted the award and reassured: “We will continue to develop our methods and intelligence in the future to combat all forms of crime around the driving test. Our investigations, and the resulting court sentences, send a clear message out to anyone thinking of this type of crime – we will use every method at our disposal to bring you to justice.”
